A furnished home is more than just a physical space. It is a critical step toward stability, healing, and dignity.

As the only organized furniture and home goods resource serving Harford and West Cecil counties, our mission is to transform empty houses into homes for individuals and families facing financial hardship. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Aberdeen, Maryland. Since 2016, we’ve furnished more than 1,800 homes and helped over 5,200 people begin again with hope.

Whether someone is healing after domestic violence, starting over in recovery, transitioning out of foster care, or finding stability after experiencing homelessness, we recognize the profound ​impact a fully furnished home can have. A safe, welcoming space nurtures mental clarity, emotional well-being, physical rest, spiritual renewal, and a sense of connection. Each bed, couch,
lamp, and set of dishes we provide helps people rebuild their lives with comfort, confidence, and a renewed sense of possibility.

This work is made possible by the heart and hands of our community. With over 17,000 hours of volunteer service contributed so far, Fresh Start Furnishings is fueled by neighbors helping neighbors. Together, we offer not just furniture, but compassion, comfort, and a fresh start.

Our furniture showroom is located at 1050 Hardees Drive, Suite B in Aberdeen, MD. Client Services are provided by appointment only, once their application has been approved. We accept donation drop-off's on a weekly basis and we offer several donation pick-up options as well. The demand for our services continues to grow and so does the opportunity to make an impact. Join us as a volunteer and help create homes that restore hope and change lives.
