From Thrifted to Gifted: St. Mary’s Crockpot Club Warms Homes and Hearts

Updated: Jun 24

We are so inspired by the incredible women of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Abingdon’s Crockpot Club, who saw a simple need in the community and turned it into a powerful act of kindness.

With heart and creativity, these ladies shopped local thrift stores to collect gently used crockpots. Each one was cleaned, restored, and repacked with love, creating a thoughtful gift for someone starting over in a new home.

Inside each crockpot, they included:

✅ A $25 ShopRite gift card

✅ A slow-cooker flavor packet and spices

✅ Pot holders and tongs

✅ A new dish towel

✅ And a few other essentials to make meal prep a little easier and warmer

Each of these crockpots now ready to be gifted to someone rebuilding their life and home from scratch. Thank you for reminding us all that you don’t have to spend a lot to give a lot. A little warmth, thoughtfulness, and teamwork can turn secondhand finds into beautiful second chances.
